In order to participate in sports, it’s likely your child will need to have a sport-specific examination at least 6 weeks prior to the start of the sport’s season. These visits need to be scheduled well in advance of the deadline to be sure we have time to work up any new health concerns or injuries without causing any delay in clearing your child to participate in the sport of their choice.
The sports physical should be similar to a regular well-child visit, but may also address any sports-specific issues such as previous injuries, nutrition, training and exercise programs, and even attitude during the course of the exam.
